Our Approach to wellness
Our approach to Wellness is 3-pronged: (1) the kosher grocery program, (2) 1:1 mental health support (3) student-led, staff-supported wellness programs.
Led by our Director of Wellness, a licensed clinical social worker, our wellness work equips us to empower our students around their physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being.
Kosher grocery program
Queens Hillel’s Kosher Grocery Program, is a once-monthly program in partnership with MetCouncil and CommonPoint Queens. It is a digital grocery system, where students hand-choose their grocery items based on the number of people in their household, and then pick up their grocery package from our pantry at Queens Hillel. The Kosher Grocery Program is open to all Queens students. To get the process started, students can contact our Director of Wellness, Em, at wellnessem@qchillel.org
1:1 Student Support
Looking for a safe space to discuss and explore a variety of topics including school or work stress, friendship or family dynamics, identity and more? Queens students can meet with a wellness professional at Hillel for 1:1 support.
The process begins with a student contacting our Director of Wellness, a licensed clinical social worker, to schedule an initial meeting where we can explore the type of support you’re looking for and then discuss a plan for follow-up.
**While the Wellness program at Queens Hillel does not include long-term therapy, medication management, support groups, enrollment in benefits, or other services, students can be referred for additional services through local partner organizations.
