Senior Software Engineer, Mobile
Every month, nearly 100,000 people from around the globe access Sefaria through our mobile apps. We are seeking a full-time developer to lead mobile app development and maintenance for Android and iOS. As the lead engineer for mobile, you will specialize in building products that bring Sefaria’s library to life on the go.
We are looking for a developer with experience in engineering and project management, with demonstrated capabilities in implementing complex user interfaces, software architecture, and/or tools supporting applications development on Android and iOS. This position is a key member of Sefaria’s product development team and will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer who is based in San Francisco.

Responsibilities
Holds primary responsibility for our mobile applications codebase and development
Leads end-to-end development of new mobile features, fixes and enhancements
Manages and prioritizes mobile feature requests, fixes, and needed refactors
Designs and maintains build systems, tools, metrics infrastructure, and reusable components
Performs testing and manages testing systems across devices
Other duties as required
Requirements
5+ years of software development experience
3+ years of experience developing mobile applications for iOS and Android
Knowledge of mobile development environments, testing tool sets, and deployment processes
Proficiency in JavaScript
Familiarity with or a capacity to quickly get up to speed with the tech stack of our mobile app: React Native, Python, Django, MongoDB
A keen eye for user experience details
Project management experience
Comfort working in a dynamic, start-up environment
Self-motivation, a sense of humor, and a cultivated curiosity
Ability to phonetically read Hebrew characters
Clear and efficient communication skills in English, written and oral
Preferred Skills
Experience building cross-platform apps with React Native
Knowledge of Torah texts and learning practice
Hebrew language proficiency
Supervision
Reports to the Chief Technology Officer who is based in the San Francisco Bay Area
Location
Remote, United States
Candidates living between the Pacific and Eastern time zones will be considered
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $90,000 -$110,000 commensurate with experience

Infrastructure Engineer - DevOps / SRE
Sefaria is looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer to join its global engineering team. This position will support the complex infrastructure behind Sefaria’s growing library and applications, which serve more than half a million users a month.
Sefaria’s infrastructure runs mainly on Kubernetes/Helm on the Google Cloud, with GitHub Actions, Jest, Pytest, and Selenium for CI and testing. The environment includes Linux, Nginx, Varnish, Gunicorn, Node, Redis, MongoDB, and Postgres. The product code is mainly in Python, Javascript, React and React Native. For analytics, tools include Google Analytics and Tag Manager.
The position will lead the ongoing development of Sefaria’s infrastructure and will be responsible for maintaining, planning, and implementing systems and development operations. There is opportunity for the engineer who fills this position to be involved in product development and developer community management alongside their infrastructure responsibilities.
Core responsibilities include:
Manage and maintaining Sefaria’s production environment, development environments, and deployments processes
Lead continuous improvement and maintenance of CI/testing suites and toolsets
Refresh analytics infrastructure and lead tracking across teams
Develop new features and improvements for backend systems
Train team members in usage of the infrastructure
Requirements:
5+ Years experience in an active production environment
Experience with Kubernetes and Helm
Proven experience with mid-sized production deployments
Comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Independent and well-organized
Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills
Proactive and self-driven worker in a remote-work environment
Must be fluent in English (written and oral)

Reports to the Chief Data Officer who is based in New York
