Summer Engineering Internships

Position Overview

Sefaria is looking for two individuals — one in the US and one in Israel — with an interest in Torah and technology to join our engineering team for 8 to 10 weeks. Our paid summer program will expose interns to the inner workings of a fast-growing nonprofit startup.

Senior engineering staff will help define one or two projects for the intern to develop and manage from start to finish. Interns can expect full support and coaching from the Sefaria team to help meet project goals and grow as engineers.

Qualifications & Requirements

Currently enrolled in a degree program or 2021 graduate

  • Background in computer science or engineering

  • Interest in Jewish learning

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills

  • English (professional working proficiency)

  • A working computer and internet connection is required for the role and must be supplied by the candidate

Communications Associate

Position Overview

We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative thinker to join our mission to make Jewish texts accessible and engaging for a diverse and growing audience. The Communications Associate is a full-time, remote position based in the US. This position provides key marketing and communications support for the team’s day-to-day operations as well as major projects and initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, the ideal candidate is a strong writer who is equal-parts organized, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify new and innovative opportunities for engaging with our community. Proactively listen and engage in community conversations, identifying audience asks and turning them into potential creative

  • Maintain Sefaria’s communications and launch calendars, ensuring the information is up to date and content is going out as scheduled (using Trello, Nation Builder, MailChimp, Buffer)

  • Assist in the management of social media accounts, including writing content, creating original and template-based graphics in Canva, responding/reacting to comments on our social posts, and monitoring our social channels

  • Write copy for emails, social media, press releases, and other external communications

  • Act as a public-facing representative of Sefaria in live webinars, as well as manage and provide support for webinar operations (including pre-, mid-, and post-webinar support through Zoom, emails, YouTube, and Sheets)

  • Communicate and coordinate with external vendors and contractors

  • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Department and complete other tasks as needed

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field

    • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, and/or the nonprofit sector

    • Strong writing skills and the ability to write formal and informal communications for multiple audiences

    • Previous experience with content creation and graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML)

    • Some knowledge of Jewish texts

    • English fluency required, Hebrew language fluency a plus

    The candidate can be based anywhere in the US. Sefaria has a presence in San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, and New York.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Sefaria offers a compensation package inclusive of a competitive salary, time off, flexible schedule options, and opportunities for professional growth. The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000. Benefits include:

    Digital Marketing Associate

    Position Overview

    We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative thinker to join our mission to make Jewish texts accessible and engaging for a diverse and growing audience. The Digital Marketing Associate is a full-time, remote position. The candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive view of Sefaria users as well as potential users, and driving marketing strategies that deliver against organizational goals. This position will focus on major projects, including overhauling our analytics and building out a new CRM, as well as running ongoing marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, the ideal candidate is a skilled, data-driven digital marketer, able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Measure, track and report on key marketing and communications activities (using Google Analytics, SEMRush, additional analytics platforms, and our annual user survey)

    • Manage our metrics dashboard and work with other departments to deliver the metrics necessary for their work

    • Implement new CRM and manage our audience database to ensure it remains up to date and well-segmented

    • Identify areas for improvement in SEO, track progress in SEMRush, and work in partnership with the engineering team to optimize the site

    • Project manage the development, implementation, and analysis of our annual user survey

    • Identify new opportunities for marketing to reach our defined target audiences

    • Draft copy for Google Grant ads, paid advertising, and other external communications

    • Create, project-manage, and oversee advertising campaigns

    • Communicate and coordinate with external vendors and contractors

    • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Department and complete other tasks as needed

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field

    • 2+ years of experience in digital marketing (email, social media, web, A/B testing)

    • Demonstrated ability in managing a robust CRM (ideally Salesforce)

    • Ability to write formal and informal communications for multiple audiences

    • Previous experience with content creation and graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML)

    • Experience with Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and Facebook advertising

    • Some knowledge of Jewish texts

    • English fluency required, Hebrew language skills a plus
